Hubby and I remember when Gilyard first came on the scene back in 1987.
We were newly married and saw him give his testimony (on TV) of how he lived under a bridge as a teen and how he was determined to get an education and serve God.
Oh, and could that man preach??? OMG - He had us in tears from the beginning of his life story, to the end of his sermon!!!
When we heard "rumors" of some kind of "wrongdoing" and him being removed from his Church, we were totally shocked and disappointed.

I don't care how much the 'gifts are without repentance' that guy should never have a public ministry ever again

Rom 11:28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.
29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
The context of the verse is God's calling the Jews to be his people which he didn't revoke simply because they rejected his Messiah. The calling to turn from unbelief still stands. This verse has been taken out of context then employed in absolutist fashion to define that every minister has a right to return to his former position with no regard for what he or she has done and the reputation that has produced. This practice reminds me of the use of the OT "don't touch God's anointed" to place the same VIP ministers beyond criticism. Once VIP, always VIP.
