Same here Fuego. I watch an old episode of “Hart to Hart” today, it co-starred actor John Gavin. I wondered if he were still alive and looked him up. He is still living with his wife (actress Constance Towers); they’ve been married 43 years (second marriage for both), he’s 86 and she’s 84. He was the first Ambassador to Mexico appointed by his friend and former fellow actor, President Ronald Reagan.

He said it was a childhood dream come true; his parents were of Chilean and Mexican descent and both their lineage was from very affluent and prominent families from Sonora, Mexico. He’s fluent in Spanish due to his mother always spoke it in the home and it came in handy during his service in the military and when he became Ambassador.

Very interesting life and great accomplishments, particularly in the business world. Discovered some interesting trivia about him through Wikipedia. For instance, he was the studio’s pick to compete with and replace Rock Hudson (as was actor Robert Taylor was picked to replace and compete with the older Clark Gable). I like to hear when some of my old favorite actors do well. I like it even more to know they’re saved. :)

I read something about Rose Marie a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised then, as I thought she had already passed.

We sometimes think because we haven’t heard anything about the old timers in recent years, we assume that they’ve died. But some, like John Gavin and his wife Constance Towers are still alive and doing well, and others like Olivia DeHavilland and Kirk Douglas, still around and appear to be healthy and active. :)
