Her son was filled last week. So she comes from Michigan to visit him, finds out about it, wasn't really planning on coming to church with him, but decided yesterday she was going to come and then leaving back for Michigan tomorrow. Nobody in the church knew I was coming back again this week to speak.
I had brought a book on tongues that I wanted to give away (written by a former student of mine entitled "Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking in Tongues", and I had talked to this guy again before the service, and decided I was going to give it to him. So I was talking about the book when I got up to preach, and had him to come up and gave it to him, but had him testify about last week. Basically he said he'd never been filled before and spoke in tongues and had never felt anything like that. His mother was sitting with him but I didn't know it was his mother.
But anyway, she got filled. My friend and her were sitting in the lobby at a table after church and she was really happy. Come to find out, after she was filled, she told my friend, "You don't know what a big deal this is. My husband is a Weslyan pastor and I have a lot of influence over him." So I guess it's going to be interesting when she gets back home. lol.
I said that to say this, this was a divine setup for her. She had been saved she said 41 years I think, and said she had been desiring to be filled I believe. I can't tell you how many times when I taught Bible college that when I was teaching on this particular subject, God would bring people to that class to get people filled that had never been filled. I have some outstanding testimonies of that. This one just one more. I wouldn't be surprised if I came back today just for her. I wasn't supposed to be speaking today, but they called me back last week. And she shows up that day.
One more thing, while I'm sitting in my chair after the service while the worship team is still playing and ministry is starting to come to an end, a young woman, 23, came up and sat down beside me and said, "I've never spoken in tongues." To put it in a nutshell, I ministered to her and she was filled and spoke in tongues.
