When I was a kid, the adult ladies in my family ate fruitcake. They made a warm sauce to serve over it they called hard sauce. It was sort of a sweet and sour sauce.

I was thinking of getting a small one this year. I too would prefer more cake and less fruit. I'm not to fond of nuts in cake or other baked goods either. Perhaps I should stick with carrot cake.

I am like you about nuts in foods. I just don't like nuts at all. However fruit cake seems to have a strange taste that I have never liked The fruit is a candied. Just not my kind of fruit.
