-“If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were mine?” Gianna Jessen asked a House Judiciary Committee that question today — and with good reason. Thirty-eight years ago, Jessen miraculously survived a saline abortion. This morning, she told her remarkable story to a House Judiciary Committee investigating Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and selling the body parts of aborted babies — even from those that may have been born alive. Below are the video and transcript of her testimony, including some photographs she submitted as evidence. Listen and weep, and pray that God ends this evil.

Transcript of Gianna Jessen’s Testimony to the House Judiciary Committee

    Good morning,
My name is Gianna Jessen, and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to testify here today. My biological mother was seven and a half months pregnant when she went to Planned Parenthood, who advised her to have a late-term saline abortion.

This method of abortion burns the baby inside and out, blinding and suffocating the child, who is then born dead, usually within 24 hours.

Instead of dying, after 18 hours of being burned in my mother’s womb, I was delivered alive in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles on April the 6th, 1977. My medical records state: “Born alive during saline abortion” at 6 am.

Thankfully, the abortionist was not at work yet. Had he been there, he would have ended my life with strangulation, suffocation, or leaving me there to die. Instead, a nurse called an ambulance, and I was rushed to a hospital. Doctors did not expect me to live...

My understanding is that it's now generally illegal for an abortion to be carried out after 24 weeks.

No, it's not. I have no idea where this is coming from (I heard another far-left pundent make the same claim and I was shocked when she wasn't corrected). Roe V. Wade had NO RESTRICTIONS on abortion. None.

In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court rendered two decisions, Roe v. Wade 1 and Doe v. Bolton 2 which, taken together, have allowed legal abortion on demand at any stage of pregnancy in all 50 states. The two original decisions established legal abortion as follows:

In the first three months of pregnancy, no one can interfere with a
woman's decision to abort her child

After the first three months, but before the "viability" of the unborn
child, an individual state can enact laws to protect the health of the mother but cannot prohibit the abortion of the unborn child.

After "viability" of the unborn child, an individual state can, if it chooses
to do so, enact laws to protect the unborn child but abortion must be allowed if the life or "health" of the mother is at stake. The Supreme Court defined "health" as "the medical judgment that may be exercised in light of all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age –relevant to the well-being of the patient. All these factors may relate to health." 2

States can regulate abortion practices, but there is no federal law that bans late-term abortions. Any state can do abortions up to the baby being born....and that happens with regularity.

    Barbarity and molech worship.

Here in Norway there are nurses who try hard to save the life of a baby who was born prematurely and then they have to go to some other room to deal with the abortion of a baby that is exactly the same age. Given Norwegian law there isn't much of an overlap but this has created some level of outcry. As long as the authorities treat one living baby as a full citizen and the other as garbage when they are at the same stage of development there isn't any logic involved given the usual argument that fetuses under a certain age are underdeveloped and therefore not worthy of being treated as human beings with rights independent of the mother. In the United States, there is sufficient overlap to make this totally blatant. From the OP, it seems they even get to torture the baby for about a day before it is stillborn, I wasn't aware of that fact until now.

The law in more civilized countries (i.e. here in the UK ) is 24 weeks. Before making my original statement, I Googled and found something that said in 40 out of 50 states that the law is also 24 weeks. Furthermore, I also considered that this law might not have been the case at the time of this horrendous abortion attempt. Without researching when the law was introduced, I felt confident in my statement "My understanding is that it's now generally illegal for an abortion to be carried out after 24 weeks."

Having done some further research, it looks like the issue is more complicated with only 29 states banning "late stage abortion" from what I can tell according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aborti...tates_by_state

Not saying what it should or shouldn't be, just trying to see where the line currently is.

And our illustrious president fought against an attempt in Illinois to pass the born alive act to force doctors to attempt to save babies born alive rather than leaving them to die...

Now you know why Christians make such a stink about abortion here.
