It's raining. We had roast beef for supper tonight. Supposed to rain tomorrow, too.

That's grilling, not BBQ. BBQ is a method of slow cooking meats. Hot dogs and hamburgers and stuff cooked on a grill are grilling, unless you're slow cooking it over time.
Imagine my disappointment to find out the thread wasn't about BBQing at all. :)

Up here in Canada, BBQing is the only word we use.
Same as saying we're going on a holiday when you all would say vacation.
We wear toques, not ski caps or knitted caps.
Anyhow, I knew exactly what Krys was a'talkin' 'bout.
That said, when I was in Phoenix a couple years ago, we went to a place called BobbyQ's .... SOOOOOOOOO good! Never had steak like that in my LIFE!!!

It's definitely a Southern thang...
When we cook food outside on a grill, we say we're having a *Cook-out* or we're gonna *Grill or Fire up the Grill*
Down here, BBQ always means we're having some type of meat that has been cooked for a long time, and it usually has some type of BBQ Sauce either IN it, or ON it

I, too, assumed you didn't mean cooking out, but meant real BBQ. We were over at my parents today, and my bil grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. We also had potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, watermelon, fudge brownies and ice cream.
