Btw everyone goes to hell who doesn't know Christ which is far more horrific than being born illegitimate so if people are going to get offended with me over this topic then they need to stay out of this thread.
A more precise definition would be very useful at this point.
Off the top of my head I'm not sure where the Bible uses the term "illegitimate children", maybe you could post some relevant scriptures.

Children born outside marriage are illegitimate...there are millions of them ....it's very simple
Stop complicating things

What about children conceived outside marriage and born inside marriage ?
Scripture on God viewing the child as illegitimate, please.
History has often viewed illegitimate children as those born out of an adulterous relationship, meaning that one or two of the parents were married to someone else. That is an additional option that I haven't thought of until now.

I find you completely hostile and unwilling to discuss the topic except inside your own boundaries that aren't even clear. This is ridiculous. If you are going to keep with behaving like this, I will have to take it up with the admins.

Cardinal, let me start off this way. (I'm not stirring the pot.) Does God dispense judgment on the earth today as He did in OT days, or are folks just reaping what they sow?
I do not doubt that we have a lot of troubled youths today, however it seems like they get a lot more media coverage than the many, many teens who do well.

TT....the term, "out of wedlock" is probably a much better term to use. All children are "legitimate" in that, they bear no fault or responsibility for their conception and using the term, "illegitimate" indicates that the child is deeply flawed.
It's important to understand that some of our posters were born out of wedlock, and therefore, it can come across that you are saying they are deeply flawed and it's a shaming thing.
I understand your OP and what question you are posing. I just think that the useage of the terms, "illegitimate" and "legitimate" can undermine what you are trying to get at.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
We are to tend to the orphan and widow. I was blessed with a son who had been abandoned by his real dad, his mother passed away as well when he was in his teens, he was a neighbourhood kid who hung around and it grew from there, he is part of our family now.

Whoa....both of you need to cool off a little bit. Colonel, you could have asked a little nicer for an explanation, there was no need to be snarky with the mind reader comment, and cardinal your response was much more aggressive than it needed to be. To me, you're both not responding well to each other, so go to your rooms and think about what you've done. seriously, you both might want to step away from the situation, and calm down.
