I know people who believe just that, consider the second and even third marriage to be void.

That's them, if they are led of the Holy Spirit in that area, ok, no problem, it isn't a law though, there is room for leaving, no condemnation regardless.

Staying with an abusive husband is NOT suffering for Christ or the Gospel's sake. There is no martyrs reward for such a thing.

Abusive people abuse because they want to. They are filled with a rage that is only assuaged when they cause the suffering of another. It gives them a temporary fix and release from the horrible cruel rage inside of themselves.

You are not bound in those circumstances.

Sister....I don't make any analogy, "devoid of faith". I "make decisions" based on the Holy Spirit's guidance, nothing more, nothing less. And by the way, you are the one who has been divorced, Quest, not me.

My grandmother suffered horrifically because of your legalistic view. She was a very godly woman, raised by godly people. She met and married my grandfather, who seemed to be a good man when she married him. But he turned into a terrible drunk shortly after marriage. He beat my grandmother, he beat their children, he scarred my mother terribly, with psychological wounds that marred HER marriage to my father. And he abandoned her, after tormenting her for years, in a day and age when women didn't have careers. She refused to divorce my grandfather for many, many, years, even though he shacked up with many other women, because she knew that she could never remarry, and have any hope of getting remarried and have a chance of getting out of poverty. So she lived in poverty her whole life. Yes, Quest, she had God, and a parakeet, living in a broken-down house with a huge crack in the door where my grandfather threw a chair through the door in one of his rages. What a miserable world this legalism creates, Quest. You just happened to be born at a time when women have some hope of making a decent living and having opportunities as a divorced woman.

The reason why Margaret Sanger even had a voice in this country was because of the type of stuff I wrote above. Women eventually became BITTER because the CULTURE that biblical legalism created was rife with broken, abused, neglected, abandoned, women, with many children, forced into servitude and downright destitution.

That is NOT GOD. That is not His Spirit, dictating some bizarre notion of staying in a "marriage...so called" and staying with a spouse that is non-repentant, abusive, and shows not one iota of Christ towards the other spouse.

We have the same conversations, year to year, and no one ever changes their opinion. I pray to God you never counsel someone whose spouse is beating them and never showing any repentance for years on end, to stay married. People have a free will. If people don't want to change and come under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is between them and God. The spouse does not have to inject themselves into all of that and should be free to move on with their life and make a new life with a godly, loving, partner, that honors them, their marriage, and their vows, the way God intended.

Problem # 1. The church has failed to teach and exemplify the true nature of MARRIAGE.. So We have a problem cycle in the church...people marry without entering it fearfully and prayerfully believing God has a selected spouse for them..

Problem #2. The church has failed to teach DIVORCE from the BIBLICAL perspective both before and after marriage so people marry with far less prayer and care.

Problem #3. Because of problem # and Problem # 2 there actually IS NO Biblical standard for divorce within the church of God.

I would say the over 50% divorce rate in the church proves the church teaching is flippant on both marriage and divorce...

Catchy, I am sure you don't make your other decisions of right and wrong based on scenarios but rely on scripture to guide you. Why do otherwise with the issue of divorce?

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

And Let Her Big Bad Husband Run For His Life

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.

Culture does not cause bitterness...turning from God and believing a lie does...

    God's instructions t us don't either...bitterness is a choice..

27 pages and still the only counter is emotional what if's...that deny the power of God to intervene on behalf of a woman or man of faith and prayer and unconditional love...

As my head is being slammed onto the floor so hard it bounces up and back down again, as my eye is swelling shut and bleeding from the split in my eyelid, as blood is pouring down my face from the remote that was just thrown at me, as I was kicked so hard in the stomach my breath was knocked from me, as my children watched it happen.......

I am supposed to believe you that this is God's will and plan for me?

I don't think so. I know my Father's heart and He is a good Father.
