Dr. Michael Brown on weight loss

He went from 275 to 180 pounds in 8 months.

It would have been fun to have him debate this topic on here. He would probably be ten times worse than anything you've heard from me.

I believe we often do not employ Grace and empowerment of the Spirit on eating and weigh loss because 1. We are not really willing to change 2. We do not believe it is addiction and sin. (justification)

As long as we keep looking for options that don't involve lifestyle change we will remain bound...

Sid Roth does mention the same theme I mentioned earlier. He will live longer and therefore remain here to minister longer.

Dr. B followed Dr Furhman's program, his 'Eat To Live' book. You basically become a vegan and it's extremely low fat. Basically old school. He still eats a little meat a couple of times a week, but his diet mostly consists of a big smoothie in the morning that includes greens in it, and a huge salad for supper (his wife sent me a pic on a scale...it's was a 2lb salad) and beans and other veggies. I did it myself for a month and lost almost 30 lbs, but I just couldn't stick with it mainly because of the no salt thing. I think I could have made it if I'd salted my food. But my stomach was literally upset the whole month. I even fasted some days just because I couldn't stomach that food without salt. I went on another version of it a few months ago and did salt, and lost weight again quickly but it's just hard for me. Even with the salt, I was still getting yucked out a little, mainly from the memory of the last time I did it when I would eat the same foods. It's basically the opposite of low carb. This is basically all carbs and protein from beans, etc.

He also works out now like a dog. Very strenuous, repetitious workouts with a personal trainer that is a member of the church there.

There's a picture in the video that shows his forearm when he was 275 pounds. He had the look of someone who was able to lift quite heavy weights. He says that he felt good about himself at that size because he was at least working out all the time.

One other thing that is good about the diet is, because it's so much vegetables and fruit you're eating a lot of nutrient dense low calorie food. I mean you can literally stuff yourself and you've eaten under 1000 calories for the day. So it is a low calorie diet, but it is a high volume/high fiber diet also so it keeps you full even though you're not getting a lot of calories due to the low fat nature of it.

He says he believe his energy now is not just coming from the fact he's lost weight, but the nutrient density of the food he eats.

I've found lately that counting calories and keeping my daily intakes even enables me to avoid sliding upwards in weight after a weight loss, or at least it is much slower. My range is like 10 pounds but I'm fairly lean which makes it harder to maintain. I have a digital weight in my kitchen and weigh ingredients. After a while I got my bearings on calorie content and can figure it out without much effort. Avoiding days with calorie explosions in the thousands helps a lot. The body or psyche will sometimes crave its way there and it's not always noticeable if one doesn't pay attention.

The way he eats you basically can eat as much as you want because all the foods are low calorie. He never counted calories, etc, and averaged 15lbs a month weight loss.

I count them myself and keep up with my macros.

I make sure to get enough protein and vegetables and I don't eat much sugar.
