Not excusing anything, but why are we only hearing about Christian ministers at this point? Surely, with all the .gov addresses being use, there are plenty of politicians who should be exposed.

Ok, so, his wife passed in 2011. It doesn't say when his visit to AM website was.

Granted, if he was looking for a new spouse, that wouldn't be the best place to go.

    But ....... this has me

I guess it's no different than driving through a red light district just to "look" but would he get suspended for a year if he had done that?

Jesus said in Matt 5 27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[a] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

it really does not matter one way or another. the church is the standard raised by Jesus to destroy (s)atans kingdom. as leadership falls so does the church itself. do we forsake the wounded such as sproul? no we restore them after all Jesus restored us...

His words do sound repentant...he did not seem to be making an excuse but called his sin what it was...to fuel the flames of his imagination..

It is odd that none of the major politicians that are surely listed have not been 'held accountable'.

Well, no offense but.....imo, this is a non-story. He didn't use any service and visited the site once, and left never to return. That's weakness to be certain, but he ran from the situation, thank God. Seems to me that God kept him. Not sure what the big deal is.

Sometimes I am tempted shop too much online, and have to restrain myself. And for me, it could be considered "sin" if I directly disobey God in that.

Why do I bring that up? Because what if every one of us had every moment of human weakness broadcast to the world? I'm not even talking about engaging in blatant sin.......

I was puzzled as well......IMO, the punishment does not fit the crime on any level whatsoever. It's a shame. Like I said....sin should be dealt with appropriately, not human weakness. It's baffling.

What I think I would have done, is have Sproul release a statement like he did here, and then I would concurrently state that all appropriate measures would be taken to support my brother and counsel him in the event that this was an ongoing struggle, and also state that temptation and weakness are not the same as acting out on sin. Done.

It really depends on what he agreed to as terms of employment. I assume a ministry/education centre of that size and visibility has some moral clauses in the employee handbook. It does sound like they are going by the book, a 1 year suspension, etc.
