    What is a Christian?

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but there can be quite a wide range of views and opinions amongst Christians.

It's almost as if Christians are all individual people with their own views and opinions, experiences and interpretations.

    ...

    Almost.

Now, sometimes, people will say, "a Christian DOES do this", or "a Christian DOES NOT do that". But I think a lot of the time people don't REALLY mean, "therefore I believe you NOT to be Christian if you have done those things!" I mean, let's face it, if people looked at everyone like that, you've all failed, thank you and good night.

The Other Forum used to, I believe, refer to the Nicene Creed to define what a Christian was.

What core things to you define what a Christian is? What is the core thing (or things) across no matter how much else you disagree with someone, you accept that they are your Brother or Sister in Christ?

DISCLAIMER: For anyone unfamiliar with me, I'm Agnostic. I've started this post in a deliberately light-hearted way (and if you didn't realise that then we're probably off to a bad start ) but am asking a serious question. k thx bye

A Christian is someone who is born again of the Spirit and therefore their human spirit is one with the Holy Spirit.

That may not be the kind of answer you are looking for but it is the most fundamental answer.

The rest of the stuff is part of the process of what the Bible calls transformation by the renewing of the mind..

From the time we are born, some believe even before based on scripture, our mind will and emotions are developed flawed. A human being born without a relationship with God learns to live by his or her own devices influenced by culture and Satanic oppression and even their own DNA and genetics..they are not powerless to make good choices but they are powerless to BIRTH themselves into relationship...that is what GOD does for someone when they recognize their sinful condition and surrender to HIM as savior and Lord...the new birth.

To me it comes down to, accepting that Jesus Christ is the son of God...that he died for our sins...that he rose again...believing that in my heart...and confessing it with my mouth. That sums it up for me. (The rest...for the most part...is negotiable)

    Romans 10:9

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
