No one asks to be born...or do they?

Someone mentioned in another thread that no one asks to be born and I immediately thought of something that Jesse Duplantis said in his book Close Encounters of the God Kind:

"I saw new lives of little babies singing and flying around God's Throne. It seemed to me that babies just came out of the breath of God. They looked like they were wearing nightgowns. They flew into the presence of Jehovah. I realized they were new souls who came from the thoughts of God. God thinks kids. Now I know why those newborn babies are so precious. Babies are gifts given to us directly from the Throne of God. I heard them saying to God, "Can I be a spirit? Would you send me to the earth so I can be a spirit? I want to be a redeemed person. Can I be a spirit?" And while I watched, I heard that mighty sound of God's power, Whooosh! I saw these babies leave the Throne by the power of God. (Heaven Close encounters of the God Kind p.119).

My question is, can you think of anything in scripture that would support or nullify what he said?

The implicit being that there exist human souls in heaven that are never conceived ? I think I'd rather want to see some scriptural proof in favor of that.

I remember that coming up in a thread long ago and thought of it when that was stated in that other thread...Krystian, great minds do think alike

I am with Colonel...the idea that children are implanted little preexisting spirits is not scriptural that I have seen..

Besides IMHO The miracle and spiritual aspect of Adam and Eve is to procreate little spirits..to GIVE HIM children..

    Wikipedia says the following...

A concept of pre-existence was advanced by Origen, considered by some[1] to be a Church Father, who lived in the second and third century AD. Origen believed that each human soul was created by God[2] at some time prior to conception. Church Fathers Tertullian and Jerome held to traducianism and creationism, respectively, and pre-existence was condemned as heresy in the Second Council of Constantinople in AD 553.[3]

Origen quoted Romans 9:11-14 as evidence for his position:

For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth; It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

Reminds me a little of an old Merrie Melody or Max Fleischer cartoon with baby cupids dancing amid the clouds then flying to earth to become babies.

As Femme said the Mormons teach something similar so we have to test all things.

I don't totally discount the experience, maybe Jesse saw something he didn't understand but wrote down the best his human mind could grasp. It is possible that what he saw could only fully be grasped by those in heaven and it could actually mean something else. Even the OT prophets had revelations they didn't comprehend

The Wikipedia article actually addresses that and it appears while Mormonism does have a version of this..the article says this is not the accurate interpretation of what they believe...

    didn't read the article.

The Mormon idea is that there are "spirit babies" waiting to be born. I forget the particulars.

It kind of sounds like what that guy said.. but there are always modifications.

I, personally, can't take any of that seriously.
