Thread: Do you ever pray in tongues silently?

It was very difficult because I use tongues to align with what the Spirit wants me to pray.

Interestingly, the dad has a passion for the ALPHA course and facilitates it regularly. Nickie Gumble teaches VERY clearly on the need to be bapized in the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Go figure, hey?
The dad must have something hindering him from embracing this as a Gift from Father God. Amen, it really is hard not to. Imagine me over the past year. But steadily I am hearing little utterances and some not so quiet. What a joy!

Actually, I think he said SHE didn't want me to speak in tongues. I believe they attended a Baptist church before coming to our PAOC, so their daughters were raised full Baptist. Really unfortunate. (lol In my mind, anyways) I don't know if their daughters, who are adults now, ever took the ALPHA course. I sure hope they have.

ETA: I think the girl had graduated high school or even in her first couple years of college when this happened.

Baptists often run from us tongue-talkers. The ones that dont will go toe-to-toe and give a display of why they need the Baptism.

When at the Brownsville Revival, we had a guy at work that had been coming to the meetings and wanted to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. So after work we were standing in the parking lot beside his van. He had his back to the side of the van and another friend and me were facing him. His only instruction to me was that he didn't want to do any of that falling or laughing like he had seen. I told him that wasn't necessary and I wasn't expecting him to and he didn't have to. So I instructed him and laid hands on him and told him to receive the Holy Spirit...and yep, you guessed it, he fell backwards against the van and slid down the side of it laughing and praying in tongues.

The Holy Spirit has a good sense of humor.

His first mistake was demanding HOW he should receive. Nope, dont do that.

In a general public setting you can SIT but it has to be silent unless you want to be arrested

Glad you brought that up as it has happened to me and I wish it would happen more frequently because it is fascinating. I could hear my actual spirit singing like a there was another person inside me.
