Thread: Would you attend a gay marriage ceremony?

  1. #91
We should always go to the Word.

All of the answers are there.

I see a number of similarities between going to a gay "wedding" and eating meat that has been offered to false gods..

The tail end of chapters of 8 and 10 of I Corinthians deal with the conscience.

The effect of our actions on the weak believers conscience at the end of chapter 8.

And the effect of our action on the conscience of the unsaved person at the end of chapter 10.

Our actions can be determined by the effect it will have on the conscience of another - with a view to being a proper witness of the Lord in any given situation.

Of course we need to obey our own conscience first and foremost. Romans 14
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Not just because people had to give him money, but because they were dishonest and "traitors" due to working for the Romans. Going to his house was like going to a brothel. Not to mention, he had a disreputable woman pour oil on his feet, and wipe them with her hair. It seems to me that Jesus was all about going into the "dens of iniquity" and being a light. Whether someone should go to a wedding between two of the same sex is a question that they need to address with God. I think going to see family that you haven't seen for years, and being a light in an otherwise dark event is pretty Christ-like.
He wasnt hanging around the prostitute while she was working, she had heard the message and had repented at that point. Being a tax collector was a normal job but they typically abused their position. Again, Jesus wasnt hanging around him while he was busy exploiting people.

You should attend one involving a dog, the couple is unlikely to start arguing after the ceremony. The dog is also unlikely to utter the words "no, I don't".

Do they accept "paw prints" on the marriage license application?

I dont know. Unleash the dog and see if it runs away, if not then that means "I do". Just making something up.

If they get to do that then they will claim that monogamous zoophiles are better than non-monogamous whatever. Not making that one up. Next thing they will be in leadership in churches and teach morality classes. The married ones that is.

This is not a valid comparison. Eating meat sacrificed to idols, which was an issue of conscience would be more appropriately compared to whether or not a Christian should drink. It deals with areas that are not sinful but poses problems for some believers and not others.

A gay wedding is a totally different story. God calls homosexuality an abomination. That is not a gray area or an issue of conscience. God hates that lifestyle. It is brings his utmost contempt. So for a Christian to honor and affirm that which God abhors, doesn't really square with biblical principles. We are to abhor sin just He does. We are called to emulate Him. God doesn't honor gay weddings and neither should we.

    Really?

    I Corinthians 10:20-22
    (20) But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
    (21) Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
    (22) Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

It is a sin to be in agreement with those that say that which is evil is good... by going to one of these gay loving events, you are putting yourself in agreement with something God has called abomination and by doing so you are honoring the gay peoples more than you are honoring God which is idolatry and is sinful.

This is no different than claiming to be a Christian and doing yogo, reading horoscopes, reading tea leaves, tarot cards, and you may as well attend a satanic church service down at the first church of satan!

Those that open the door will be bitten by serpents! It's quite funny that some who claim to know the Lord are also open to knowing evil. Enjoy!
