Thread: Interesting take on the prosperity doctrine...

  1. #41
At my old Church, most of the Church went to an Avanzini conference and most people came back shell-shocked and blown away. They said that the entire conference was a push for book and tape sales, cheerleading, getting people pumped up, and NO TEACHING. A godly businessmen that attended our Church is the one that encouraged the people to go and they were extremely disappointed at the way this all went down. They were stunned. They couldn't believe they gave up their Saturday for a very aggressive sales pitch. They weren't expecting that at all. They were under the impression it was a financial seminar of sorts.

The prosperity doctrine is a pyramid scheme to say the least and i do not condone it as i have seen more than my share of familys hurt by it losing their possessions even houses.

by the way i have sat under avinzini's teaching more than once and its very heavy on giving money to get money. i had 1 pastor give him the title of the "apostle of Finance" i take him with a huge grain of salt....

Preachers who help raise money get invited back. Give to get is a very powerful message in human terms. Instead of law it employs greed, an even stronger human drive than the drive to be found pleasing according to law.

Well as the adage goes , ones perception is his/her reality.

I have been to to many an Avanzini meeting and certainly dint feel any pressure other than to get out of debt rapidly which meant I paid off school loans and car loans in less than 1/3 the time I should have

Hopefully all the members of your former church are living debt free and without financial burdens . if so No problemo if not they better find a minsitry that will help them in that area and fast too

Glad it worked out for you, BAP. Never been any sort of fan of Avanzini, and to be truthful and honest whicha, I'm glad I havn't seen him around in quite a few years. Never did a thing for me, but then again, Copeland never did a thing for me, either. I have always enjoyed Hagin Sr (Jr never did anything for me at all!), Dollar, Casey Treat, and some other WOF ministers. But Avanzini always rubbed me wrong. Like a used car salesman or something.

Yeah, that looks like the guy in that meeting 20-25 years ago who told us that people wouldn't believe him and his message unless they understood that it had worked for him and that was the reason why he could display or talk about his designer clothes, cars, gold this and that and show them that he is rich and therefore good soil to sow into. He didn't talk about the work of God at all like he does on his website today, he only talked about the law of sowing into good soil and reaping correspondingly. So I came to the conclusion that the way to get rich like Avanzini was to start a ministry like that and get the momentum going. Our pastor interpreted into Norwegian and he was very, very good at that. So good that he often seemed to be the English speaking minister's twin speaking in Norwegian but not always. This time Avanzini was smiling big at the crowd, even bigger at the pastor and the pastor was smiling even bigger back at Avanzini, something he never did at any other time.

It's all good .. Not sure why you deem it necessary to Highlight whom you esteem and whom you don't after all no minister is called to cater to all people so nothing new there . Nonethless , It's all sugar ...

When Jesus said He came to preach the Gospel to the poor, I don't think He had the prosperity gospel in mind.

The point I was making was very simple. Everyone has people that minister to them, and by the same token, the same minister may not do a THING for others. You like Avanzini and I have never gotten anything from him. That's the point.

Then there are ministers that I think are "so stupid that .... " and then I get something from them anyway. Kind of like God is telling me "it's not that bad"
