It does promote borrowing if you give money you do not have. If there is not monies in the Bank to cover what you are giving, then you are borrowing and that is wrong. I have heard Munsey (sp) tell the viewers to get give so much that He felt God had told him. A certain amount. Then he said, get the money any way you can and give it and God will bless you. Even use your credit card. Granted many may have the money in the Bank to cover their pledge, but there are also many who are very poor and want that blessing they are promising so they borrow the money by using their credit card. It is not right.

The ones that I'm familiar with teach that its ok use a credit card for convenience sake as long as you KNOW that you can pay it off in full within your grace period. That's how I use my credit card too, in all the years I've had them I've never had a balance roll over or paid any interest.

the prosperity message was born out of the word of faith doctrine at ORU n the late 70's early 80's. i was there when it started. Oral roberts took it n a different direction with the seed faith theology. while i did not accept all of the doctrine i knew what he was getting at. later that theology would become the prosperity doctrine and evolved to what we see now. several televangelists jumped on the band wagon including richard roberts, kenneth copeland, creflo dollar, avinzini, mike murdock, steve munsey, the tbn crowd, jim bakker and others. fred price taught this doctrine in chapel one friday and i was there. he opened himself up to rebuttal when he asked if we all agreed with him concerning name it claim it. my Greek professor stood up behind me and loudly said i totally disagree with u. oral was on stage and lost his temper calling us all wolves n sheeps clothing. needless 2 say it was down hill from there on. The prosperity doctrine is a pyramid scheme to say the least and i do not condone it as i have seen more than my share of familys hurt by it losing their possessions even houses.
by the way i have sat under avinzini's teaching more than once and its very heavy on giving money to get money. i had 1 pastor give him the title of the "apostle of Finance" i take him with a huge grain of salt....
Wheeze, you should be more specific when discussing these things. What you are referring to ranges all the way from "God wants to bless us so that we can have something to give" over into outright pyramid schemes. In general prosperity is Biblical for the simple reason that the blessings of the law are all about prosperity. When they aren't about health, that is.

i dont think i am colonel. the original word of faith doctrine placed a emphasis on Gods word and its authority n the life of the believer speaking the Fathers will into situations and circumstances. The seed faith concept came out of this n that if we give out of our need God will give it back 2 us. this was not about money but n every area of your life. The original seed faith doctrine was the "parent" to the modern prosperity doctrine. the prosperity doctrine took the seek faith doctrine and molded it into the money cometh, blab it grab it, confess it bless it prosperity doctrine. it was from this demonic doctrine we have what we have 2day including financial greed, a low threshold n regards to morality, self importance, fleecing of the sheep and so on. The theology of the cross and Jesus work there flew the coup n many churches and para-ministries as many take their eyes off of Jesus and onto material wealth.
by the way ya'll i have seen so called men of great faith urge the flock 2 write "faith" checks..... think about it...
