Because some insist Holy Spirit is a HE...refer back to the other 29 pages....OT rendered it a feminine noun and Greek rendered it neuter...never masculine so why did translators opt to use the pronoun HE..
So far all that has been stated in answer is that the language does not reflect gender...
Still doesn't answer the question though...why defer to a masculine pronoun when the original languages was never masculine...
Why does it matter? Because if you went to church tomorrow and referred to Holy Spirit with a 'She' pronoun you would be, likely, boldly renounced as a heretic...yet scripture gives AMPLE reason to defer to she rather that he...

This came up several times already...so are you asking where the author referred to God as both male and female? In the beginning of the story God was depicted as female, toward the end as Mack is faced with his most challenging task, literally forgiving the killer and finding and burying his daughter's body God manifested as a male....

That is why Paul said to 'rightly divide the Word of God'. Your belief about pronouns is not rightly dividing the Word of God it is irrelevant and insignificant.
You are stuck on this point and making it seem like it has some sort of significance and revelation
Mormons, JW's and even true christians use scriptures to proclaim some sort of message and justify their opinions
The great deception of the last days is due to born again evangelicals and spirit filled believers using Bible verses to justify error about God
William P Young is teaching error and many are now embracing lies and justifying it and making God into their image.
I'm not here to judge Young's salvation only God knows where he stands but the below verses are a warning that there will be those who are unstable who will bring error into the church
2 Pet 3:16 - as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
2Pet 3:17 - You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;

No, where does the author say that nouns in the Bible were his motivation for that depiction ?
