I think in some sense, you are attempting to topple biblical truth with "new revelation" and "special cases", insinuating that those who don't buy in are being judgemental, harsh or stuck in the "old" paradigm, that stinky religious stuff. All of which, of course necessitates being harsh, judgemental and religious.
Bending sound scriptural practice to justify our ends is never very good, it's typically an attitude and practice encouraged by cults, the special, superior ones who see them as being deficient and certainly not as cutting edge as us.

It goes both ways but the underlying issue is misapplying scripture and holding out that you have better revelation, special knowledge, etc. It's all the same. There is always an "US vs. THEM" attached, those who don't listen to dear leader are blind, religious, bitter, stuck in old paradigms, etc.

Quest, the Holy Spirit and the word of God are not at odds with each other. If the Holy Spirit isn't leading you right back to the word of God, it isn't the Holy Spirit.
Your insistence in this thread that Davids life is some sort of NT ministry model is wholly flawed. David didn't have the benefit of the counsel available to us and wasn't accountable to standards he had no understanding of. We now have a better way, much superior to the the ancients.Hebrews 1:1-3 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
