There are a few things in that passage that cannot be repented from because they remain factual.

failing the "husband of one wife" test

failing the "having a good reputation with outsiders" test

failing the "is not a recent convert" test

I doubt if any church will hire a recent convert as an overseer (I think his time frame is probably less than a year given the speed at which he established his churches). They might ignore the others. I don't personally see them as absolute commandments but they should function as strong guidelines.

Please don't make this escalate. You haven't suffered much.

Cardinal TT, one thing I have stated from the beginning..I am talking about genuine repentance, not "I'm sorry."

People who KNOW they are sinning and intend to ask for forgiveness later are those who are tramping underfoot His grace...that's a dangerous place to go...dangerous place to go.

Some don't get caught up into sin with such willful intent, they are more of the kind that don't avoid it with intent due to overestimating their own strength or spiritual growth...IMHO they are far more likely to come to the place of genuine repentance.

When John had the audacity to reprimand Catchy for something he just did himself...well...that ruffled my feathers...

Actually, there was no "personal attack" on Nikos. Pointing to Nikos, WHY he has so much conflict on this board sometimes is not a "personal attack". A "personal attack" would be making the accusations that John and Nikos have consistently made in this thread.

The problem they both have is that a minor disagreement goes immediately into judging and harsh, hostile, accusations against others. It's just bizarre.

Matter of fact, I'm shocked you moderators have not stepped in to correct them or admonish them to shut it down. CARM mods aren't perfect, but they do edit posts and delete the personal stuff. Not saying that should be implemented here, but I don't think we should suffer through 20 plus pages of foolishness and hostility, either.
