Well, Nikos, who here has suggested that love allows anything to get by. Since I was the one who just posted above about love, let me point out that I also spoke about restoration in the context of repentance.

Also, as I pointed out above, God IS love, and there ain't nothing mushy about that.

We witness far more than just our ability to stop sinning...our lives are examples of grace and mercy, of liberty GIVEN not earned...our testimony of sin and repentance and forgiveness are as needful as our preaching and teaching others to look at our success as a Christian...

Our message is two fold, our witness is two fold...we are saved by grace and IF we sin He is faithful and just to forgive us..AND that we can overcome because HE overcame...

The world is not won by our 'Holy lifestyle, but by the convicting leading of the Holy Spirit and that may come through our honesty about our failures and His great unconditional love or it might come thorough our honesty that only by His grace are we being changed so that we DON'T sin when tempted..

Truth is the world mocks us either way.

Same scripture, different what we pullout of it.
Restore to proper thinking, alignment and relationship with Christ, not restoration to public ministry, You are just misapplying scripture by highlighting a verse while ignoring others.

Yes, until it gets better. Restoration to ministry is a process that may take a while.

Where in the Bible does it say you have to look like a sewer rat to win someone to Christ. The Church today likes to get off on the idea that we are different than 50 years ago. That is not the question. It is not about 'we." It is about Him. If you have the power of God manifest in your life, it will reach the lowest soul. There is nothing like the power of God. Your ideas are brainwashed into you minds. Yet the church today is far from what it should be. There is nothing but entertainment on the platform and absolutely zero power. None! The church can have its rock concert type services, but anyone with an understanding of what the poser of God is knows that the church is deader than a corpse in the grave. If Jesus comes back today, it will be a sad day for those who have invested their lives in people who cannot save you or heal you. You are on a dead end road.

John, it looks like you have put a limit to restoration where Scripture does not limit it.

Well, like I said earlier, hyper-grace. You've spiritualized away the consequences of sin, lost your witness.

I didn't say "restore to public ministry." You read into my post what I did not say. I was looking at the "gently" part because of the hard line that you and Nikos have taken on TB.

People do not get restored by being whipped into shape and being told that God will never use them again. The things we are restored from create TESTIMONY which actually creates a doorway for us to WITNESS to people about the goodness of God and the redeeming power of the blood of Jesus. Our RESTORED lives create an avenue where we can say to someone, "I know how you feel, I felt the same way, but here's what I found... Let me tell you what GOD DID FOR ME" ....... and present the MESSAGE.

The scripture is quite plain when it comes to the qualifications of an overseer.

I don't condone whippings, that would be bad. You are are acting like moral ministry is an extreme, His yoke is light AJ.
