There have been other Christian couples who have willfully divorced and remarried for no legitimate biblical reasons knowing that they could 'repent' and start afresh with their new spouse.

Obviously the innocent spouse left behind is the victim in all the deception

It seems to me that the reluctance to define anyone's new marriage as adultery and command them to repent as in divorce makes it easy for people to ensure that their new relationship will be accepted.

Example is a powerful thing, that is why ministers are held to a higher standard.

Some of you ladies are a little old to be embracing the "trade in" model. Be careful of what you are advocating here.

You might wanna keep hubby away from that "anointing".

It may be difficult to do that in general (in the absence of a very powerful anointing that convicts people very deeply) but when it comes to allowing people back into ministry it should definitely be a serious consideration.

1 Corinthians 5:1-2 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud!

Paul addressed not only the mans sin but the attitude of the believers towards that sin. It was necessary for him to address both issues.

"trade in models" have a tendency to flock around more or less well known ministers. The celebrity factor (whether within the church or even in general) tends to weigh up for the lack of youth and/or attractiveness.

"I suddenly feel like my marriage is in the process of crumbling" may be the first thought that arrives and then a few years later a new wife is in place.

Yes but that was before the man repented, Paul's attitude in 2 Cor 1 is completely different.

I know the man was restored to fellowship, that is wholly embraced, but the sin was gone, as was the attitude towards it.

They were no longer proud of what they had been reveling in, a false grace. Paul was dealing with two issues, the man and the attitude of the fellowship towards his open sin. They had it wrong, he (the man galavanting in adultery) had it wrong, the larger ministry was to the fellowship that was maintaining and upholding the mans sin.

I think that is fair, TT.

Colonel is right as it does seem that TB willfully got married and THEN submitted to restoration. This does suggest a deliberate act of planning and scheming which is far worse than if a minister committed adultery and then submitted to discipline. Once he was remarried it was obvious no one could tell him he had to divorce his second wife - I find that behaviour concerning as he knew he would not have to reconcile with his first wife

Curly Sue brings up sexual immorality which if we read the NT impartially is clearly taught by Paul that this sin is more grievous than others. We really can't say all sins are equal when Paul makes an issue of it.

At the end of the day ...none of the above are the unforgivable sins and TB is totally cleansed and forgiven

Everyone then has to decide whether they want to accept his ministry (which is different to his salvation).......IMO God wants us to embrace him as a brother but not necessarily embrace his ministry due to his past actions

If our conscience can or can't accept his ministry then we should flow with that
