I'm sorry to hear about your parents divorce Colonel.

That's a very long time ago. I was less happy when my dad shacked up with an unbelieving woman 5 years later (in my estimation it was nothing more than that) but then he repented and left 5 years later.

this is the sort of thing that Tullian Tchvidjian is going through right now.

it's heartbreaking. The thing I respect is his being willing to be open about how God is dealing with him throughout it.

I can't help but always remember David in these instances. Not only did he engage in adultery, but murder over it. And yet, God called him "a man after my heart".

David did genuinely repent. That's what I find questionable about the situation with Todd Bentley.

I think that is why God hates divorce. We have a tendency to look at it as an event but in reality it is much more, it's kinda like the thing that keeps on giving, well after the papers are signed, generational in fact. Most of it, not good.

That's my back yard, his church is a few miles away and it's been fodder for the local press.

My understanding is that he cheated, she cheated in retaliation, and she is gone, wants nothing to do with him.

A pastor who commits adultery should never be allowed back in the pulpit. The ban must be permanent and absolute. If he repents he should be restored to Christian communion but not to Christian leadership.

John.. I don't know the particulars.. and I don't know hearts. I know what TT has said. (which is that she cheated first.. he didn't set out to, but made some missteps.)

Basically, at this point, it doesn't matter. He is broken. He is under restoration. I hope she is too. it's wrenching.

Do you have actual scripture on this and not just "the tenets of some or other Pentecostal denomination" ?

I've known quite a few adulterers and truth be told, the cheating is usually the tip of the iceberg when it comes to other character issues. I believe you are correct Nikos. The bible agrees with you as well.
