Well, it says Enoch 'was not', right? Doesn't say where he went. And with Elijah, without looking at the text, does it say he was carried off into heaven? That might not mean literal heaven but off into the sky as observed by the writer. Obviously they had to shed their bodies at some point, but who knows what happened to the bodies.

Sure it does. If Jesus is the first born from the dead, then naturally those OT saints who came before Him could not have been, or else He would not actually be the first born.
Your reasoning depends upon equivocating on the term "heaven" to work, consequently it doesn't.
Here's a question. We know that the Bible says that the New Covenant has "better promises" than the Old Covenant.
1. What to you are those "better promises" of the New Covenant?
2. Do you believe that the Old Covenant saints had Jesus living in them?
