It is a project in progress. My main pond is about 30' x 60', and the upper pond is usually about 8' x 100'. I pump water through a pipe from the lower to the upper, where it aerates the water and then flows back down and dumps back into the bigger pond. My main pond usually averages about 8' in the middle, and the upper pond usually is at about 2'-3'. What I really want to do is to fill in a short section of the upper pond and make a swift running little stream with a waterfall dumping into the lower pond. It all takes time and money. With the spring run off, my lower pond is probably about 11'-12' in the middle right now.
I have most of the trench dug to install my flume, but not so much energy to dig it by hand right now. Had an 18 year old young man helping me dig what is there so far. I have been praying that the water will come up another few inches, and the water will just wash through the trench and dig it out the rest of the way. Then I can install the gate and pipe and regulate just how much water I want in the pond.
We catch fish and put them in there too. There are an abundance of frogs and tadpoles, which our ducks absolutely love all throughout the summer. The kids and grand kids also love to catch frogs when they are out in the summer.
