    Manning supplied the documents to Wikileaks, the Assange entity.

    Even if he was to come to the US, what could we charge him with? And does clemency erase the crime? (I realize Manning was not given clemency) I just never understood why we wanted Assange on US soil.

    Manning was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment in July 2013 stemming from violations of the Espionage Act. Manning disclosed a trove of classified U.S. secrets that was later published by WikiLeaks.
