    The Rambutan
During my recent trip to Viet Nam I was introduced to many different kinds of fruit that were very delicious. The Rambutan is an exotic looking hairy red or brown ball that is popped to expose a smooth, sweet, white fruit. There is a hard seed within. Once the hairy exterior of the rambutan is peeled away, the tender, fleshy, delicious fruit is revealed. Its taste is described as sweet and sour, much like a grape. The spines are soft and pose no threat.

They are kinda "funky" looking, almost scary, ... you hesitate to touch them with the spines, .... but they are ohhhhh so tasty!!!
