I'd totally forgotten this one too:
Attachment 8533
This is an example of a scripture being taken out of context. That was specifically speaking of that time on earth. No one was born-again, no one had the life of Christ in them and had been delivered from sin, etc. That statement is unequivocally NOT true concerning the human race today, or you totally deny or grossly misunderstand Paul's revelation of Christ in us.
Interesting point and you're right on that. I can't speak for others, but I suspect that the intent of my thoughts are not constantly evil, but by the same token, as I'm only justified but not yet sanctified, I know that quite often they are. And anyway look at what we've been discussing lately, lying "prophets", false teachers, ministers committing adultery. There are a lot of evil intentions and thoughts out there.
I think though the point of the example is the idea that people want to "interpret" scripture rather than simply reading it and accepting it as true. Yes there's context and all those other things, but the sense I get is when people say "interpret" then seem to mean "deny the clear meaning", like when people "interpret" Scriptures on homosexuality.
P.S. Jer 29:11 was not only speaking of a particular time on earth but to a particular set of people. I bet that's taken out of context a lot more than Gen 6:5 (which is slightly misquoted above actually).
