That ought to be k00L, prophecies about prophecies

Best thing to do it take this type of stuff to the Lord and wait on Him to show you what a word given means for you personally and let the Holy Spirit lead you.

Of course there have been and still are abuses of prophecies, so the thing to do is wait upon the Lord concerning what it may mean for you personally. Many of them are rubbish and should be ignored and sometimes the thing to say ro the person, if it's someone in your face about "their" prophecy is do what Keith Moore says which is tell them "you have a point" which is not saying anything one way or the other.

Some of the doom and gloom is coming from teachers who are interpreting the scriptures a certain way.
As Pentecali said many lives have been destroyed by bad pastors, teachers, evangelists as well as prophets

    doom and gloom

About fifteen years ago there was a local church here that was "prophetic" and they all kinda latched on to "God is sending judgement to South Florida". Lots and lots of bad folks around here and all that.

So, as these things go, there comes a hurricane across the Atlantic and it's tracking right at us. Big one. Now I get word that these prophetic people are all back slappin, vindicating themselves, here comes Gods judgement, we've been warning you! Now as the outer bands of this thing reach shore the Holy Ghost tells me "go rebuke that thing". So I go out in the back yard and just cut loose on that storm, rebuked the wind and the waves. The hurricane literally disappeared.

The newspaper reported the next day that the weather service could not offer any explanation for what happened, they had never seen a hurricane just fall apart like that. The prophetic people church went away shortly thereafter. I sent them a rebuke too.

Until the rider on the white horse shows up, we are under mercy and grace, it's not our job to usher in judgement.

You should go to Texas and rebuke all the illegal Mexicans and send them back to Mexico

Upon seeing the resulting exodus the US government will close the borders in no time and put up loudspeakers everywhere telling them to return back to work.

Well, thanks for the encouragement. Where do you want to go with regard to this thread?

I guess for me, there's not too much to add, but I will say this. The prophetic leaders I've been around since 1988 were mature in the prophetic. I've seen some flakiness over the years, but not in the prophetic LEADERS. The leaders I'm familiar with have had stable marriage, fruitful ministries, etc......so I've been shielded in that way. The only thing I've seen a lot of, (and this was an unfortunate thing in my last Church), was that people are called prophets when they simply have a strong GIFT of prophecy. My pastor was literally ordained a prophet and his strength was in giving personal prophetic words. This is NOT the Christ ascension gift mentioned in Ephesians here:

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
The biblical office of prophet manifests completely differently then when someone is moving in the GIFT of prophecy. Clearly that is where there is confusion. And that was a problem at my old Church. My pastor literally never had prophetic Words for the congregation. Ever. He never had prophetic insight about anything. But he could deliver a right-on Word to a saint. In a prophet, the gift of prophecy does operate, but it is more pronounced and less geared towards personal prophecy. Dr. Bill Hamon wrote about this extensively in Prophets & Personal Prophecy many years ago.

For me, my former pastor being called, "prophet" was completely confusing because it simply wasn't what I was used to where the prophetic is much more pronounced and the "gift" operates, but in a completely different way than basic, "edification, exhortation, and comfort".

So sometimes people simply WANT to be a prophet and prophesy beyond their ability and end up blowing it badly. Also, as I said, there is a genuine, mature, prophetic, voice in this nation. These people have many YEARS of accuracy, fruit, and the ability to raise up others to do the work of the ministry. I don't pay any attention to most ministers, but there are a few that I do respect and heed. But....what I have experienced is that God has spoken to me personally, and then what God spoke was confirmed by prophetic ministers. That is why I am not going to debate or argue about this.

It's like saying that if someone is on a railroad track on a corner and doesn't see a train coming, and the Lord sends a warning to the person, some of the logic in this thread would basically say that God would never warn someone that a train is coming. This is just bizarre. I don't even know what to say to such silliness. But whatever.

Anything else you want to talk about?

I know many people in my world that have that same attitude because there have been serious abuses. So I do understand to a point.

But I've seen worship leaders split churches, I've seen Bishops sent to prison for molesting kids, teachers go off into bizarre doctrines, pastors steal money, and on & one it goes. So, what do we do? do away with pastors, teachers, worship leaders etc? We would end up totally doing away with the five fold ministry if we eliminated every office that has failed the church.

Many people I know who went thru these storms never survived. Today they are bitter and don't go to church at all.

Anyways, please carry on. Perhaps I will share some prophecies at a later time concerning this topic
