    Baker Fined $135,000 for Refusing to Bake Gay Wedding Cake Sends 10 Cakes to LGBT Groups

    Melissa Klein, the Oregon baker who refused to create a cake for a same-sex wedding and was fined $135,000, has baked 10 cakes to send to 10 top gay organizations throughout the United States.

    "The idea of sending cakes was suggested to me by a Los Angeles filmmaker, as a gesture of love for homosexuals," Klein said. "My husband and I have been vilified as being hateful, but we don't hate anyone, let alone gay people."

    "Ray Comfort produced an award-winning film that epitomizes our attitude toward the LGBT community—that Christians are not their enemy," Klein continued. "After seeing it, I wanted to send a copy of Audacity to gay organizations and ask them to watch it."

    Comfort, whose movies have been seen by millions, said, "When I saw that Melissa Klein and her husband, Aaron, had been fined $135,000 for not baking a cake for a lesbian wedding, I wanted to say something important in their defense. Like Melissa, I want the LGBT community to know that we are not their enemy."

    The filmmaker and best-selling author used an analogy to help explain how the Kleins and other Christian business owners feel.

    "I'd like to ask Melissa's accusers: Would they bake a cake for a wedding where lion meat would be served at the reception? I think most animal-lovers wouldn't do it, not because they hated the couple, but because it would be condoning something that compromised their deeply held convictions. They simply believe that eating lion meat is morally wrong. Christians love gay people, but to lend support to a same-sex wedding is to compromise deeply held convictions."

    The letter that accompanied the cake and DVD read: "Hello, we are Aaron and Melissa Klein. We're the bakers who declined to create a cake for a same-sex wedding and were ordered to pay $135,000. We want you to know that our actions were not motivated by hatred, and we personally baked this cake as a small token of our love."

    The letter continued: "Enclosed is an award-winning movie that further expresses our feelings. I would be honored if you would watch it (it's also freely available online at audacitymovie.com). One viewer commented: 'I have to say, as a gay woman who watched Audacity, I agree that the topic was handled with love and compassion, which was refreshing to see ... the message was clear (even if it was one I disagreed with as an atheist).' On behalf of Christians, we want you to know that we do love you, and we are not your enemy (America is about freedom, and freedom for everyone)."

    Starring Travis Owens (Friday Night Lights), Molly Ritter (Atrophy, Madison), and Ben Price (Australia's Got Talent), Audacity explores the conflict between Christians and homosexuality using both a thought-provoking plot and real and unscripted street interviews conducted by Comfort.

    Audacity is the fifth film produced by Living Waters Publications, a biblical evangelism media company led by Founder and CEO Comfort.

    Maybe they should have served them and preached the Gospel to them the entire time while they were in their store... they should run 'em off since they don't want to hear it.

    If you're gonna get in trouble, let's get in trouble for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not for refusing to do business with the gay peoples.

    Let 'em bring you up on charges of "hate speech" cause you repeated what God said and then explained God has provided a way of deliverance to set them free from being one of the gay peoples... then, in prison start a prison ministry.

    I'm surprised...you feel that she should have made the cake for the original couple then?

    Yes, and preached the Gospel to them continually.

    One of two things would happen... they would either get saved, or decide I was not the baker for them and find someone else.

    Either way, it's a win, win for me as the baker.

    What if they didn't get saved, and all you managed to do was provide the cake for them?

    Well, first they would not wait around for the cake prep..it takes a while. And they sure would not listen to a sermon and no one could force them to..

    One could permeate the air when they came to pick it up and take their time in bringing it out to them...

    But no...Jesus never said making the right choice would not come with sometimes painful repercussions...

    I have not seen the movie...will have to watch that..sounds like it would be good for our youth as well..

    I'd make it plain that salvation thru Jesus Christ is a personal relationship with their Creator Who desires them to not go to hell so turn away from being gay and repent today!

    It's my bakery, so it's going to take quite a while to write up the paperwork for the job while they stand there and hear some preachin, and then I'll need to call them numerous times concerning details about the job that will involve rabbit trails of Gospel preachin and then I'll mail them some stuff in the mail about Jesus wanting to set them free so they don't burn...

    They aren't going to want anything I be bakin unless they see the error of they ways.

    Seriously... the gay agenda is trying to use legal means to damage Christians businesses, so if I'm going to get in trouble for what they call "hate speech", I'm certainly going to get my money's worth before I go off to prison and start my prison ministry.

    If we get another 8 years of baby killers ruling this nation, this is where things like this will land people... in prison for speaking God's Word in Love... and it is an act of Love to let folks know that if they reject Jesus as Saviopr and Lord they will burn in hell.

    In Mark 16:16 Jesus was talking about turn or burn... and He was walking in Love, was He not?

    yep...it's DEFINITELY said in love...turn or burn is NOT

    He also said, "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet." Matt. 10:14
    I don't think Jesus advocated harassing people into the kingdom

    He said that His sheep know His voice..Jesus understood that the Spirit is our source of revelation of HIM and His truth. That as messengers we must relinquish our desperate need to 'win the argument or debate' so to speak. One plants seed..another waters..GOD gives the increase. This gives us such peace and joy and liberty..

    We get it that love and truth are inseparable and when one is severed, be it love or truth, the other becomes unfruitful. Truth without love is not truth..God IS love so His Word, His truth IS filled with love, inspired by love, intended to produce lie by love...Love without truth is not LOVE for the same reason.

    This couple expressed the TRUTH and LOVE...that is the nature and character of God...

    Actually....that plan might work

    No refusal...But remember in the end, if they hold out through it all, you are obligated to deliver the cake...once you say 'yes' regardless of all the delays and obstacles and preachin...you have to keep your word...

    Actually I do see a validity in your point here though...just saying NO ends the conversation for the most part. They may follow with a 'why' and one can share their beliefs for that brief window... but on the flip side, when it goes to the WWW, attacks bring far more attention and opportunity for response...influence..

    Hmmm...
