DIY? No way.
Just had two new shower heads installed. Plumber took 3.5 hours.
Had to go get more bits to drill through tiles.
Needed extenders to fit the new taps (I had no idea such things existed).
Do it myself? No way, would have taken a week.

I don't think so.
Bad form if he did as he's family of friends of the extended family and that's the only reason why he was asked, and he knew it.
Anyway we're doing it so that the MIL can shower more comfortable and she's offered to pay. Not gunna say "no".

Different pipes. Loos have to be on tank water. Successfully used the loo while the plumber was replacing the shower taps.
And yes we have a seperate loo

The "fancy" faucet in my kitchen broke and I went to Lowe's to buy a replacement.
I wanted something simple this time - Just need it to function - Doesn't have to be pretty...
Soooo, I asked the clerk in the plumbing dept. when they could send someone out to install it, and he said, "Oh, this one is so simple and easy, you can do it yourself, Ma'am"
OK, so I get home, read the instructions, look under the sink, and was totally clueless as to how to remove the old one and replace it with the new faucet and handles.
Long story short, it took a plumber almost 2 hours to complete that "simple" installation.
(Oh, and it cost me $125 - which I think was pretty reasonable)

If I can't find clear instructions on the internet, I won't risk a DIY; I'll ask an expert.
Even with clear instructions available, I won't risk it if the plumbing is really old.

People who can do the work themselves deserve the satisfaction of a job well done... and saving the cash.
There will always be plenty of other folks plumbers can overcharge.
