    That's a good point GIMJ. My conscience would bother me more if I knowingly vote for a candidate that's not going to win, thereby helping the worst of two evils win.

    As you don't have preferential voting (preferential voting is like a run-off election, except the run-off is held with the same ballot paper and on the same day) a lack of a vote for Candidate A means Candidate B needs one less vote to win. In a two legged race, although you may not physically vote for Candidate B by not voting for A you make it easier for B to reach their goal.

    In our preferential system I vote for a minor party candidate who won't win but eventually my vote trickles down the major party I dislike least. Because it's politics the major parties do watch how popular the minor parties are.
