Ben Carson: The lesser of two evils in voting

Ben Carson: The lesser of two evils in voting

The polls are tightening and the election is only about a month away. Former Republican contender and now a Trump spokesman Dr. Ben Carson, in an exclusive interview, says it's crucial that Christians get out and vote.

There's a lot at stake in the upcoming presidential elections. Vacancies on the Supreme Court will shape the country's legal landscape for a generation, a fragile economic recovery could strengthen or fade, and the politics of division that has plagued the country could worsen or heal – all depending on who is elected to the White House.

What do you think of the argument that Trump vs. Clinton is a 'vote between the lesser of two evils'?

It's an excuse some voters use to stay home on Election DayI agree with Carson: it's an imperfect worldIt's not the first time – so just get out and vote!It simply reflects many people's deep frustrations

Trump surrogate Dr. Ben Carson says in large part, that depends on whether each individual turns out to vote.

“In 2012, 25 million evangelicals who were registered to vote did not vote,” he says. “They sat on their hands. And the margin of victory was 4.5 million. So do the math.”

“We have this; we have control of this,” he adds. “We just have to exercise it.”

He says the differences between the two major-party presidential candidates could not be clearer.

“One of the candidates, Donald Trump, is very strong, particularly on the First Amendment and will protect that,” he tells OneNewsNow. “And the other one will further erode it through appointments to the Supreme Court and the federal court system with a blatant disregard for religious liberty.”

And Carson has a word for all those who aren't excited by either candidate.

“Some people say, I cannot vote between the lesser of two evils,” he offers. “Well, I’ve got news for them: they live in an imperfect world where you're always making choices between the lesser of two evils. That's why God gave you a brain.”

The renowned neurosurgeon then offers a a medical illustration, putting the choice in context:

“Most people would say paper cuts are very painful. They don't like paper cuts. It's a bad thing.

But so is getting both your legs chopped off. If you had a choice between those, I think you could make the right decision.
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

I'd never vote for a baby killer.

Any politician that support murdering babies is going to advocate other forms of destruction as all and will just bring more darkness.

I don't understand how Christians can not or will not vote. Their reasons escape me completely. I understand their frustration, but I don't understand not voting at all. Especially when so much is at stake. Yesterday at our prayer meeting, one of the lady's there claimed that God told her to vote for Barack Obama in both Presidential elections.

My response later was, "so I guess God now violates His own Word." Unbelievable that a Christian could be so deceived as to submit to a "voice" telling them to do something that's contrary to the word of God.

But not voting at all is just as bad. If we don't stop Hillary Clinton, (and the only way to stop her is by electing Donald Trump), America will suffer the greatest upheavel since the Revolutionary War.

Trump has promised that he will do away with funding for Planned Parenthood. Pence has already tried on several occasions. I am sure they will be successful. Just that fact alone should make the choice perfectly clear to every born-again believer, knowing that their Father hates the shedding of innocent blood.

Yes, and the future SCOTUS appointments. I'm voting more for the Party platform, than the candidate himself. Dr. Carson was my first choice, then Senator Cruz. When they dropped out, the only other choice was Trump.

Yeah, Ben Carson would have been my first choice too. Something just didn't sit right with Cruz though. I didn't feel at peace with him at all.

I have to admit that there was kind of a "Hitch in my Giddy-up" about how I felt about him.

Maybe Pence will help some Christians not be so shortsighted about Trump..
