Ahh, this is what's going on, she's kinda like a lay nun:
-In the Catholic Church, a consecrated virgin is a woman who has been consecrated by the church to a life of perpetual virginity in the service of God. Consecrated virgins are to spend their time in works of penance and mercy, in apostolic activity and in prayer, according to their state of life and spiritual gifts.[1] Consecrated virgins should not be confused with consecrated hermits and anchorites, who have a different vocation...

Luke 2:37
36And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.
Anna was not a virgin but was a widow who had given herself in total consecration to the Lord..
I would think the ceremony is for 'men' as it certainly adds nothing to the relationship.
