What was the subject of the sermon this week?

Just a place to share, compare notes, share what the Lord is speaking in our local church families...

Well... once again my church is going thru "transition" (I LOVE that "christian-y" word..NOT)..Our interim pastor preached on John 14 and John 16, regarding Jesus counseling the disciples on His leaving but would be sending the Holy Spirit,( the Spirit of Truth, the Advocate) and Him teaching us and leading us into all truth..

We must be in community. If we do not forgive one another we will not be forgiven by God Matthew 6:14-15
We have to be in right relationship with each other to be in right relationship with God. Then we took communion. An awesome sermon by our young youth pastor.

    Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

A coming picture of the church and how it will look in the near future , how God is restructuring, doing away with the man's kingdoms, system of men, how God has been striping & tearing down to build up ..
"cool church" is trending out and the qualities of the old are coming to make a big comeback

When I look at the Cross of Jesus Christ, I see both the event that took place and the results of that event in regard to my person and my life. Not only was I saved from the penalty of sin as a result of this event, but placed" in his riches in glory" is the totality of my inheritance. At Calvary, He provided for me treasures that no man or earthly father could ever grant or give in a will. Jesus went to Calvary once to establish my benefits. I travel to Calvary many times every single day to claim the Blessed results of His Finished Work. Let me boast in nothing but the Cross!
GAl 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

The altars were filled with souls seeking the Lord. It don't get any better than that.

We have been being challenged to get out there and share the good news of the gospel. This last Sunday was a conclusion of that with we are living in the "day of Grace" but that won't always be the case. Pastor referred back to the days of Noah when God said He wouldn't contend with sinful man forever, and He saved Noah & his family & the rest of the world was destroyed and the time of Sodom being destroyed & Lot being saved out of it and how someday the church will be taken out of the sinful world and then the Anti-Christ will come.

The subject of the sermon this past Sunday was "The Point of No Return". Our pastor warned us about how sin can harden a person to the place where God Himself can do no more for the person and even our prayers will no longer prevail. Great message.

My former pastor used to often say, "It's a poor frog that won't praise his own pond"

(seriously though, if any good has come out of any message I ever preached then it is due to the precious Holy Spirit working through me so He deserves all the credit. But since I obeyed and yielded to His direction I pat myself on the back for being an obedient servant )
