The Three R's: Righteousness, Redemption, and Restoration

"Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:26-28

As we conclude our study of the three "R's", we'll discuss the last of them...Restoration.

Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the English Language defines restoration..."The act of replacing in a former state."

To understand our restoration to our former state with God, which was the state of "righteousness", we must go back to the Garden of Eden. Hmmm? Maybe this won't be the conclusion of this discussion.

In our scripture text, we read that after God created mankind, He gave them authority over everything He created.

In other words, Adam was in charge of the entire earth. Adam walked and talked with God, and God even brought all of the animals to Adam so he could name them, and Adam named them all! They had EVERYTHING they needed and then some.

As we look at chapter 3 of Genesis, we find that Adam gives up his authority, he commits high treason through disobedience and turns over his God given authority to Satan.

"...therefore the LORD God sent him (Adam & Eve) out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man..."
Genesis 3:23-24

So as we can see, the sin of disobedience, cost Adam his authority on all God had given him.

We will conclude our discussion on tomorrow, and learn how we've been RESTORED! Have a wonderfully blessed day!
