Theology: The study of God. There is no higher calling. Hear the heart cry of Paul. "that I may know Him" (Philippians 3:10) I wish I could add an exclamation point to the verse and maybe use upper case letters.
"a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless.
But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,"
Yet didn't Paul include the study of God as something that he counted as loss for the sake of Christ, for knowing Christ Jesus his Lord?
I in no way mean we shouldn't study, read, converse ...

Papabrett, Christ or Messiah or Jesus are all one and the same person, right? And since He is God, Paul did not disavow his heart's cry by saying it was all for the sake of Christ. In fact, he reaffirmed it by adding a title to the one he already identified as his heart's desire. I believe Paul knew that when he wrote these things.

Did Paul seek and love Christ while persecuting Jesus ?
Acts 9:4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?"
Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."

No, I believe that Paul, like Moshe, was confused and deceived about the identity of his Messiah. When he understood the true identity of Jesus, his life and actions were radically changed. This is what I expect will happen when Jesus introduces Himself to Moshe. Moshe may well be the man whose testimony turns the world upside down again. Meanwhile, I plan to continue to give unconditional love to Moshe, expecting nothing in return.

That's a good point Colonel is making. It basically sounds like something Paul could have said pre-conversion. He thought he was walking in salvation and the truth, but he wasn't.

Absolutely. And I'll sure agree with you in prayer on "This is what I expect will happen when Jesus introduces Himself to Moshe. Moshe may well be the man whose testimony turns the world upside down again."
