DAVID HOGAN: Man of love or an insensitive jerk?

"DAVID HOGAN: Man of love or an insensitive jerk?

I'm bringing David Hogan up again because it reminded me of something the Lord told me when I saw David a while ago. If you've ever watched the guy preach, you may say to yourself, "This guy doesn't know love. He's sounds mean." Or some may say quietly to themselves, "What an A-hole this guy is. He's so cocky and he's really pissin' me off." David Hogan is not a guy who sugar coats stuff. He tells it like it is. He's seen a lot of difficult things and experienced them. He's had to bury many of his friends who were murdered for sharing Jesus. He's had some really trying times, nothing that I've ever come close to experiencing.

When I was watching him, I was analyzing his entire approach and kind of criticizing him, almost in a way of looking down on him, like I was the more loving christian. The Lord said to me, "You have no idea how much that man loves, do you?" I thought about it. Although he comes off sounding abrasive, harsh and insensitive, he's far from that. Many love with their words, but David loves with his actions. I started thinking how much people give lip service and talk or write about love, but when it comes to actually backing it up with their actions, the numbers drastically wear thin. David gives his everything to help and rescue people and give Jesus. He puts his life in danger for others, regularly. Something that most Christians are not ready to do. Love is when you make people more important than yourself by showing it in sacrificial action. Love must cost something of you. It's where you are willing to lose something that you may never get back to benefit of another person. David does all that, as a lifestyle...." - Steve Peace Harmon

I knew you'd like that. Not sure how many here remember that your original nickname was fuegodedios and that some thought that you were David Hogan because he was known by that name too. :)

And I got that name from him. I spent a month with him and his ministry in Mexico back in '98.

I'm not sure if I knew that. Can you tell us more about your time with him? How did he minister, how was he received...were there many miracles or salvations?

My extremely subjective impression of David Hogan is that things aren't quite like they once were with him.

Not much really. I actually stayed with one of the other missionaries down there (most of the ministry was them), spent a day at Hogan's house, sat across from him at his kitchen table while he told testimonies for about 5 or 6 hours, saw him minister in a 'campmeeting' of the indians there, and interacted with him at the ranch. Just 'normal' ministry with the missionaries, etc. Really didn't see any miracles or anything of that sort.

That made me curious, do you know someone personally who has personally witnessed miracles from David Hogan's ministry ?

Not a 'civilian' personally. All the missionaries told stories of miracles and healing. I imagine a lot of the stuff happened when they were forging through starting the ministry, going into unknown areas and even after that, a time when any 'civilians' wouldn't have been around anyway. I have no reason to doubt the testimonies though.

Okay so there are people whom you know better than Hogan who have witnessed miracles in conjunction with his ministry, then.
