For all you know it may have been a clerical error where the 92 year old woman got included in a list of none active members ..If it happens to be a big church its very possible where she wasnt neccessarily singled out. The article does say she wasnt the only one who received the letter.

Like I told Colonel I probably have very little in common doctrinallY with Black Baptist Churches but one thing I can say about Black Baptist Churches even more than WOF they do believe in community and visiting the sick and the shut in and fellowshipping with one another outside church. That's why I am not in such a rush to believe everything I read in the press ..

They very well may be wrong in their actions but simple point is we don't have all the facts and the bible warns us against answering matter's before fully hearing them

So instead of threatening people with hell to pay why not simply pray for all involved ?
    -92 yrs old
    -Faithful member for over 50yrs
    -sick and shut in
-kicked out for not paying tithes

That's ALL I need to know to come to my conclusion

I'm thinking that they might have decided not to bother about contacting her or her family because the tithe involved was very small. I suppose it is more tempting to spend some time and therefore money on "catching the tither's tail" when the tither makes 6 figures. Then insistent inclusion will prevail over the itch to condemn.

Yeah, maybe the woman also spends her nights burgling the church leaders' homes just they can't prove it. There are many scenarios. It is implied when people discuss the topic that there isn't anything like that going on. It can't be that hard to figure that out.

This is not a court case. This is a "heart"case.

I would hate to see how you treat the sick, elderly and poor

    Faithfulone,
I thank God for my up bringing. You know my background. Girl, they would line you out if you wasn't living right, dressing right, doing right, lol! (You know that), But with all its faults, we cared for the poor, the elderly, the hurting. We were not afraid to go into the highways and hedges (the hood), the streets ... I'm thinking maybe this may be a clash of upbringings and church culture here

The media sure knows how to play on people's emotions and "discerning" Christians continue to fall for it. Especially when they have a pet peeve about giving financially to the church or they have problems with authority in the church and a news story centers around that.

Poor ol' grand ma. How dare those wicked pastors pick on that poor ol' lady *sniff-sniff*

Yet, no one has any detailed information about what happened. The media, once again, shows how successful their tactic of pulling on people's heartstrings and emotions can replace a well thought out rational response. Too funny

I do agree the media will go out of their way to highlight the Christian "meanies" but that particular case aside, I think what is being discussed/debated here is the big picture, not so much that one story. Sadly, I'm sure a lot of people have lost their church home and never made headlines, just got quietly crushed.

No thanks. I wouldn't be impressed by your money. I'm unimpressed by your attitude towards a 92 yr old

The Pharisees tried to impress with their giving in (Matt 6 ) & John the Baptist called them vipers

And yes, there would be hell to pay if they treated my mother this way and I WONT TAKE THAT BACK
