Thread: Church Revokes 92-Year-Old Woman's Membership for Not Tithing

Yes, a universal message of love...take care of the widows, orphans, and elderly, expecting NOTHING IN RETURN!

These are good and valid points.

The last thing he tells them before he starts observing people who give including the widow and her mite is "These will receive greater condemnation.” If he says that about Pharisees who were supposed to keep the law according to the letter, how much more will he say that about ministers today who do the same and who are under the ministry of the Spirit and not of the letter ?

There is absolutely no, that's right, NO scripture verses to back this up. What does it have to do with tithing.? Absolutely nothing! Tithing is not a law, it is a privilege. It is an act of obedience to the Will of Jesus who said it was a good thing to do. It is not complicated like those who oppose tithing like to make it. It is a simple act of faith in God. Everyone who is a Christian should tithe. Rich or poor. The Word of God does not play favorites. It applies to all. There is so much "stuff" on this thread that is full of assumptions it is unbelievable. One bloke even calls the believer in tithing 'STUPID." When you are on the losing end of the debate, you revert to name calling. One here who is somewhat loquacious, loves to go back to the law. He hides behind the law.

There is no information as to whether the 92 yr old woman was rich or poor. In fact just because someone is old does not mean they are in need or are hungry or in poverty. Not enough info for all these assumptions. I think that some here are trying to win an argument based on assumptions.

I'M SURE GLAD I PAY MY TITHE!!!!

That's what I was thinking too. From what I'm understanding its not like they banned her from ever setting foot in the church again.

Oh yeah. How Christlike of them to only revoke her membership over money. That's definitely what Jesus would do.

All that goes to show is how stupid their membership rules are. Just another evidence of what tithers will support in order to affirm that doctrine. It seriously leaves me shaking my head.

Everyone including the nephew is making it sound like its only about money but its about financial support AND attendance.

In the video the nephew said his aunt was sick and a shut-in but according to the letter there are exemptions made in those cases. Now you have to wonder why none of the family notified the church that she was ill, they could have at least asked the church to pray for her since she was such a long term member.

No, one would have to wonder why the pastor or elders didn't have the decency to make a phone call to find out what was going on. Ever have a sick relative, Krys? A 92 year old SHUT IN is removed from the Church because she didn't "fulfill her obligations". I just can't with this insanity.

The excuses the pro-tithers are making, literally sound, well......insane in the light of what we know. Jesus would probably rebuke you guys worse than He rebuked the Pharisees. The lengths you guys are going to is not in the spirit OR letter of the written Word.

    Just...wow. Wow. Wow. And wow.

    No, she's just a lowly shut-in...that's all.
