Never, ever, my experience in the prophetic......
As I have always said, my early learning experiences in the prophetic were full of SOLID biblical teaching, excellent exercises, and good character, strong marriages, no flakiness, etc....
One of the main reasons Bishop Hamon started C.I.'s bible college was specifically because the Lord told him that since prophetic people can get off into flaky land, they needed solid biblical foundations.
I was fortunate that as a baby Christian, I was going to a very solid AOG Church with excellent teaching and an excellent accredited bible college on site. Then, I'd run to School of the Holy Spirit to get the prophetic stuff. I had the best of both, fortunately. I was also mentored in the prophetic by a very solid prophetic voice.

CatchyUN,
you are fortunate to have come away totally unscathed. Some people I know have only seen the negative side of prophetic ministry so their view is only based on what they've seen. I have seen the good and bad. I've seen 3 cases here on the west coast where the pastors prophecied that their must all pack up and move to the Rocky mountains to wait out the tribulation or incur God's wrath. Those churches now live in communes in Colo. I've seen some other stuff that was so outrageous I won't even get into it.
But fortunately, I have been around the genuine prophetic ministry to counter balance all of the crazies. In spite of it, I still believe in the supernatural very strongly

I too believe in the supernatural. But I don't believe in so-called prophets getting up and claiming to be spokesmen for God when they are a bunch of fakes. To tell you the truth, I have never seen a true prophet who came as a preacher or prophet holding meetings in a church or wherever. Everyone of them are flakes and not worth 2 cents. Modern day prophets are deceivers for the most part. Yes I believe there is such a thing as true prophecy. We are not to despise prophecy, but the ones I have encountered do not have a holy life to back up their claim to a holy calling. I went to the church I attend to hear the so-called prophet the Pastor was so excited about. I knew he was a flake as soon as I heard him speak. He was full of himself and couldn't stay away from the pretty young women at the fellowship that followed. So why believe in them just to get a let down. If a dear old saint of God comes up to me who has lived a "sold out" life for God and tells me something, I will definitely take it seriously. Other than that, they can keep their deceitful ways to themselves.
Just my Nickels worth.
BTW, if I wasn't so shy I would really tell you what I think!

i recently went to my sons church and they had a prophet there. He didn't make many friends there as he told one young man he was weird and he was gonna get weirder. He told my son not to go to medical school (or at least we think thats what he said) which confused my son and we had to reassure him of what God wanted him to do. Then the next morning this guy tries to sell this rejuvenation product called ZEAL during the service. The pastor who I know was furious and I can't blame him one bit. The pastor had asked this man not to do that before the service started.

What does the pastor think of his prophecies?
