Man sprays mouse poison on produce at multiple Metro Detroit grocery stores
(WXYZ) - The FBI says they a have taken a man into custody for sprinkling substances on food in grocery stores.
Officials now say the man possibly struck multiple stores. They include the Whole Foods on W. Eisenhower Parkway, the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Road and the Plum Market on North Maple.
Originally, the man was only thought to have contaminated food at the Whole Foods.
Officials say the man, who has reportedly confessed, was identified by tips from the public.
The FBI also says they have identified the substance as a mixture of hand cleaner, water and Tomcat mice poison, which was sprinkled on produce at the stores.
Officials say in his confession, the suspect said he sprayed the produce within the last two weeks.
The investigation is ongoing and, officials say, the suspect has said he visited other stores in the Ann Arbor area over the last few months...

And no one has been identified as a victim of poisoning yet?

It says he was identified by others in the store, but is that how they knew? They saw him do it? It doesn't really say.

I've always believed there should be very stiff penalties for people that tamper with food. I'm talking mandatory sentences up to 10-20 years in prison. The same serious penalties for crimes that involves stealing money, should include pedophiles, rapists, and food tamperers. JS

I was waiting to reply until more came out in the news but not much else has been said....here's a little more info:
Man accused of putting rat poison on goods at Whole Foods says he believes someone was trying to poison him
-A Michigan man accused of contaminating grocery store food has a history of mental illness and believes someone is trying to poison him, officials said. Kyle Bessemer is accused of putting a solution containing rat and mouse poison on food bars around the Ann Arbor area.
A federal investigation was launched after the 29-year-old was spotted by a Whole Foods employee, who saw him dumping mysterious liquid at the store.
Bessemer is being charged for that and one other similar incident, though health officials say that he could have struck more than a dozen stores in the state. The FBI said that he confessed to several of the incidents, where he used a mixture of hand clear, water and poison.
There have been no reports of illness or injury stemming directly from products thought to have been tainted by Bessemer, though officials also warned residents to throw out goods from affected stores’ food bars...
