Thank you, I like that idea! You're right, it may be a bit difficult With names on, but Christmas stockings are popular anyway.

Days are starting to turn "fallish" here in NE. So for me the Front Porch has a cool breeze this evening. Once again I'm tired out. I have a Bible study group that meets in my home on Tuesday night, and then I attend a group that meets on Wed. morning. Then this afternoon I canned peaches. It's been several years since I canned anything, but peaches were only 87cents/lb. so I bought 2 lugs. I hope to get busy on some craft work tomorrow. It just seems there is always so much to get done, but it is good and I am blessed. I hope others who stop by the Porch are being blessed in all things and I look forward to hearing about your day.

Fallish is right! Yesterday's high was only the mid 60s and it dropped to around 50 last night. I usually don't bake much in the summer but I put the oven on and made some apple nut bread last night, I posted the recipe in the 'what did you make to eat' thread, it turned out so good.

Then my plan was to just kick back and catch up on the forum and maybe even play a little in the arcade but my internet provider decided to do some upgrades in the area and I lost the internet for the rest of the night.

Cats you are so amazing with cooking and crafting, I love reading about all your new projects. Do you have a garden going this year...have you harvested anything yet?

Krystian, no I don't really have a garden. I really only have one small area that gets any sunshine, other than my front yard. I did plant 3 rhubarb there this year and hope to buy some asparagus to put in and maybe extend that area into a little garden next year. It will depend on how I am feeling next spring.
I didn't get any crafts done today . I got up late and by the time I had my quiet time, exercised, make a bunch of phone calls, then decided more peaches really needed canning. I went to the College of Hair Design for a pedicure not particularly to get fancy nail polish but because I really needed some ingrown nails cut. Only to find out half way thru that they don't allow the students to cut or clip the toe nails. I wasn't very happy about that, but the little gal working on me was so sweet and nice to visit with and I did get the chance to invite her to our church's big outreach event this Sunday! As it turns out she lives in the apartments directly across the street from the church I attend. So perhaps my pedicure wasn't totally in vain.
I will check out your apple bread recipe Krystian. I also picked some apples Wed. so want to do something with them. Yum

It was chilly this morning. 69 IN the house. I'm wearing long sleeves, jeans and have been resisting putting on socks all day. I'm just not ready for it! But, I will be happy to sit by the fire in cooler weather and read with a cup of tea. But not just yet!!!!

We are haing a rain and wind storm here on the coast. Would love for the eastern side with the wildfires to get the rain...but not the wind.
Hello there people...it was a nice vacation and brain break. Good to see you all again.

Just relaxing and putzing around mostly. Spent some time with the kids. Had fun going to our county fair, eating bbq beef burgers...all homemade and garlic fries. The real kind..home cut, fried in oil and smotheted in garlic. Just wonderful.
Then the rains hit. And the eastern side of the state is getting it too.woo hoo.

Oh, that's wonderful news! Isn't that where the wildfires have been so bad? And I'm glad you had such a nice vacation too!
Our church had it's "End of Summer" outreach event. It's a car show plus other activities, bounce house & stuff. There were over 100 cars there. That was fun, although I didn't talk to anyone where I had the opportunity to invite them to church or anything like that.
Wed. I picked apples and Sat. I was sure the Lord woke me up early and was telling me to get up & get apple crisp made & invite neighbors over for coffee. So I (grudgingly) got up and obeyed. I got the apple crisp made & in the oven and waited until a reasonable time of the moring to call folks. I telephoned in the order of who I really was hoping could come. All I was getting was answering machines or the ones I talked to already had plans. I was down to the 1 "crazy" lady. Her backyard adjoins mine diagonally and she's always out there walking around talking to herself, loudly; or she sits on her deck talking on the cell phone so loudly that I can hear her from inside my house if I have my patio door open. And I hear the Lord saying "call her" So I did have a fairly nice visit with her. She doesn't seem as nuts as I thought, although I have to admit I didn't invite her to Bible study. I'm waiting to hear the Lord's leading on that.
The movie "War Room" is in town now. I think our Bible study group is going Tuesday night instead of our regular study, as that is $5 night & free parking. Has anyone seen it?
Well enough out of me. What's every one else been up to?

Enjoying cooler weather and sprinkles is what i am up to.
Yes, the eastern half o washington and oregon are where the wildfires have been. So they are thrilled . They need much more rain. The cascades run down the middle of both states. The eastern half is much drier. Different climate, nearly desert. Lots of wheat fields and rattlesnakes. So they get wildfires. Just not this bad.
