Fiery Cruz Rips ESPN: Schilling Fired for 'Obvious Point' on Transgender Bathroom Use

Sen. Ted Cruz forcefully criticized ESPN for its decision to fire MLB analyst Curt Schilling in response to his comments about bathroom use by transgender people.

The three-time World Series champion shared the following meme on social media earlier this week.

    The post was later deleted.

"ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated," ESPN said in a statement.

Cruz said in an interview with Glenn Beck this morning that Schilling was making an "obvious point" in support of a North Carolina law stating that people must use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender at birth.

"ESPN fired Curt Schilling for making the rather obvious point that we shouldn't allow grown male adult strangers alone in a bathroom with little girls," said Cruz.

"There are some bad people in the world, and we shouldn't be facilitating putting little girls alone in a bathroom with grown adult men," he continued. "That is just a bad, bad, bad idea."

Schilling took to his blog to defend himself after the post triggered a ton of backlash, saying he was simply making a "comment about the basic functionality of mens and womens restrooms, period."

Sarah Palin also came to his defense on social media, saying ESPN "screwed up" by firing Schilling.

Sarah Palin is really mixed up. She posts that cartoon and at the same time she's supporting Trump who has said transgenders should use whichever restroom they want.

Where did he say that at?

It's getting to the point that Christians won't have anyone to vote for...

I know it may not be a popular opinion around here, but if a person has transitioned, or living as a man/woman it would be far more disruptive and upsetting if that person uses the bathroom for the gender on their birth certificate. I think they should just adopt a don't ask/don't tell approach.

And allow any pervert who desires to do so to use the restroom with your little daughter?

I think we need to take the liberals on a field trip to a farm so that they can figure out how to tell a male from a female.

On Thursday NBC’s Matt Lauer asked if Jenner was welcome to use “any bathroom she chooses” at Trump Tower, Trump answered pointedly, “That is correct.” The question, posed during a the “Today” show townhall, was in reference to North Carolina’s controversial “bathroom bill,” a recent measure that requires people to use the restroom that corresponds to the gender on their birth certificate as opposed to the gender they identify with.

Trump told Lauer that North Carolina was “paying a big price” for the bill, which LGBT activists see as discriminatory.

“You leave it the way it is,” Trump said referring to bathroom choice pre government involvement. “There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble, and the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment that they’re taking.”

Jenner, who was recently named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2016, has yet to comment on Trump’s bathroom position, but she’s made her political leanings crystal clear. Jenner plans to vote for whomever the Republican nominee is. She told an Australian radio show in March that fixing the country is “not so much trans issues but fiscal issues.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...t-trump-tower/

Yeah I used to be one of her biggest supporters but cant be bothered with her anymore. Not so much for supporting Trump but for her incessant attacks on Cruz.

She is becoming like Anne Coulter
