Not surprised that Jakes is "evolving." He has been comprising his views on the scriptures for years now...

Especially since it is widely-reported that one of his sons is gay.

Is anyone surprised by someone who has been such a staunch supporter of President Obama. I always wondered why a "man of God" could so easily defend this president but I usually kept silent about my feelings on him and this. But many (not all) of these megachurch pastors are showing how easily one can compromise with the world.

You know I thought the same thing. When one could continue to support him in light of the things Obama stands for, abortion, etc, etc, etc, I guess it was just a matter of time.

Deception is not new, but sure seems like someone opened the floodgates on the world. People who I've known all my life and I know they know The Word, are "deciding" that all sexual sin is really ok. That "they" were born that way. And even when I show them what scripture says, they say that's not what it means I'm praying the The Lord will open their eyes to His Truth and that He would keep me from being deceived in any shape or form.

At least he is telling gays to go to gay friendly churches instead of trying to infiltrate conservative churches to attempt to make them change.

I pointed out in the other thread that there is a third view on homosexuality that many feel at home in but do not express in these times of strong pro-gay peer pressure. The "morally suspect" view. It's typically "live and let live and God will/might judge in the end" meaning that there is neither outspoken condemnation nor outspoken acceptance, just outspoken tolerance. T D Jakes comes accross as something like that, but I could be wrong.

He made a statement regarding that article on his facebook page last night:

My comment on HuffPo TV drifted into issues of the Supreme Court ruling and changing the world through public policy verses personal witness.

Further, I have come to respect that I can't force my beliefs on others by controlling public policy for tax payers and other U.S. citizens.

Jesus never sought to change the world through public policy but rather through personal transformation.

All people didn't embrace him either. That's what I said and what I meant .... Nothing more and nothing less.

Just because a so-called Christian publication chooses to misconstrue my words using lazy journalistic tactics to further their own agenda and draw attention to their site does not make their statements an accurate depiction of what I said or meant.

    Investigate.

Do not take everything you read online or hear repeated as truth. When asked about the "black church" and its role in ministering to gay people, I briefly mentioned ( we were running out of time) the word " evolved and evolving" regarding my approach over the 39 years of my ministry to gay people who choose to come to our services.

I simply meant that my method is evolving -- not my message. I was SHOCKED to read that this was manipulated in a subsequent article to say I endorsed same sex marriage! My position on the subject has been steadfast and rooted in scripture.

For the record, I do not endorse same sex marriage but I respect the rights that this country affords those that disagree with me.
