I actually don't hear that in that video. For instance, on sex, he's talking about it within the confines of marriage. And the other things within the confines of the boundaries of the Word. I hear him making a big deal out of mindsets that I think many don't have any more, especially the circles he is 'preaching' to. He's preaching to the choir with the people that read his books. I think he just packages it in a sensational way that causes him to sell more books to those that are inclined to like their messages packaged like that. Once I listened it really wasn't a big deal what he was saying.

Please point out "You can have Christ and keep your love of the world too" in that video. And if I did I will gladly admit it. I must have missed it.

He seems to dispute that we live in a fallen world. I didn't listen to the whole thing, though. Does he balance this with both Jesus and John's admonitions about loving this world? Does he talk about self-denial? It seemed the direction he was going was that God wants us to pursue the things of the world that attract us. I agree that God gives us pleasure in this life, but not as a result of seeking it. It seemed he was saying it's okay to seek pleasure in this world. I would differ and say that those who put God first and "hate" this world find that God does give them enjoyment of some earthly things...but not as we seek them.

Ugh, the more I listen to this, the less I like it. Should be a very popular message with the church today, though. Sad. Of course, now I'm open to the charge of being a "gnostic." Horse feathers!
Its part of the larger picture. Most people today need to hear a lot more about the other side of the story though. Deeper holiness, truth in the depth of the heart etc.

One thing I noticed was that he spoke of those who don't approve of the party life style with disdain. He was particularly ugly about the man (I don't recall the name, it wasn't Wesley) who taught Wesleyan holiness. That is the difference with say most here who don't partake. Most don't get ugly to those who disagree. When I was in msog in the 60's, there was a tendency to poo-poo those who "hadn't been set free" from the dos and don'ts. There is a difference in legalism and those who feel sincerely led in those matters.

I agree Crowder uses a lot of sensationalism to promote himself. Indeed, he is preaching to the choir because today nobody needs to tell the church to loosen up.

Years ago we had a discussion on one of his tokin' videos, couldn't find that one but here's a similar one:

Looks like he's got a lot of other interesting videos too:

Once I listened it really wasn't a big deal what he was saying.
Exactly how I felt when he visited New Day years back. I was extremely hesitant because I'd seen some of those videos, but was encouraged to attend with an open mind and hold what John said before the Lord.

He was whack. He made donkey sounds and paraded around on all fours. He did a headstand. Giggled like a school-girl for an entire three-day weekend. Said all kinds of crazy stuff.
He preached the authentic, freeing, radical gospel of the Kingdom and a bunch of us got set free. Not to do crazy stuff, but to do CRAZY stuff for God.

It wasn't the crazy that accomplished that, but I think that it was the crazy that Holy Spirit used to unlock doors and teach us new things.
