    Spirit-empowered Biblical Interpretation

    http://marccortez.com/2014/04/23/spi...-conference-5/

Spirit-empowered biblical interpretation is marked by several key features:

It is transformational, focusing not just on meaning but on experience (not just the sense of the honey, but the experience of its sweetness)
It is eschatological, drawing us ever closer to an understanding of the truth but without ever "arriving" in the sense of exhausting the full meaning of "truth"
It is performative in that we continually enact what it means to be "in Christ" in new an illuminating ways
It is cognitive in that Christians come to read their world in light of God's word.

    That's good...

I believe many have accepted intellectual understanding for revelation...but it's not...that would fit in the form without the power category.
Of course the power is seen in the transformation as well as the per formative. Like the new birth is our first Spirit-empowered interpretation.
    Would you agree?

An article on 'Spirit-empowered Biblical Interpretation' 'Toward a Pentecostal Hermeneutics' perspective and the words pray, prayer, praying, tongues, and mediation don't occur anywhere in the article. Figures.

True... U was only commenting on the part JD excerpted..the result of interpretation...the article seemed to be emphasizing 'community for accurate interpretation' ...I do believe if spreading fire but community is not a guarantee of that...

What was his main point? I could not really grasp it...but I admit, I skimmed the article.

There is some pertinent background related to this topic -- e.g. how the Spirit illuminates us. The pentecostal theologians try and articulate this and push through the Bible-only Mason-Dixon line. RT Kendall has also expanded on this, as he sees the reformed folks draw too restrictive a line on how the Spirit works.

I need to get at some of the xxx vs. yyyyy debates mentioned also and try and get more info later...
