    DIY cleaning products

My daughter does not seem to comprehend that EVERYTHING can't go in her mouth, so I decided to get rid of as many chemicals as possible around the house. This is my laundry detergent now:

some people like to use borax...but it was just as dangerous as the other stuff, so I found a recipe that didn't use it. This stuff has been working great so far!

For fabric softener I used my tea kettle to boil 2 cups of water, then mixed it with one cup of baking soda. Once the baking soda was not as solid I added in 6 cups of vinegar (slowly, so that it wouldn't react with the baking soda as much)
Then I added 30 drops of essential oil...whatever essential oil scent you like.

I searched for some products I use on their link:

Do they give anything a grade better than a D?

That sounds interesting and easy to make, I may try it on a smaller scale. How much do you use for a normal sized load?

I used to make our own detergent. It lasted forever and saved us a ton of money for regular clothes. I couldn't get it to work well for cloth diapers though. We had so much change over the last year we went back to buying detergent but I'll have to think about doing this again when I can. Thanks for sharing! I might try this recipe next!

I wanted one without Borax, in case the baby got into it.
