Yep, I remember doing riot control training, things should clear up pretty quick.
From what I've seen, the police and NG are playing the "pretend to fail" game. They aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Hopefully the police will learn a little MC lingo ..
during the 1992 L.A. riots, police officers asked the accompanying U.S. Marines to cover them while searching a house for a suspect that held his wife and children hostage. Mistaking the statement "cover them" for suppressive fire, the Marines promptly fired 200 rounds into the house.

So far the riots here have been mostly in the downtown city center. According to the news, it turned violent and they ended up arresting 150. But I guess we're supposed to call this a protest uh?
Just glad they didn't take to the freeways like they did in 2020 where they chained themselves together.
