    AT&T

I anyone else having trouble with AT&T this weekend? We haven't had a land line for about 48 hours now, but dsl is ok.
There is not one word of news anywhere we can find other than a map showing outages all over the country.

    Cyber attack?

Did you call in and report it? Last year my landline went out and AT&T gave me an estimate of it being fixed in 3 weeks. I kinda laughed when I was told that and said, really, 3 weeks? She said it would probably be fixed much sooner but that that was the estimate the computer was generating.

The days turned into a week and the estimated time remained the same but I remembered hearing that if you find a company's facebook page and make a post there about your issue things almost always get resolved more quickly. I found their page and posted about my situation and included their estimated wait time. Within an hour someone inboxed me for more info and don't know if it was a coincidence or not but it was fixed before noon the very next day.

AT&T is moving towards fiber which means they won't be installing any more copper lines which is what the vast majority of their "land lines" run on. Do expect at some point in the not so distant future to lose your AT&T copper based land line phone service.

Going from copper to fiber or wireless. I see a day coming when only government services (police, fire, etc.), hospitals, and large corporation have hard wire phones. With costs dropping many younger people have grown up in a house without a land line. Each year fewer people have wired phones with traditional local phone companies seeing the biggest losses.

We got it fixed Tuesday. The man said the paperwork said "hazard" on it. ?????

We have a land line and dsl. The cost of the dsl keeps going up, up, up with no added benefits. We can't really afford two cells with a pricey plan. We are currently using two dumb phones which we prepay. We only use them for emergencies.

LOL...I would've asked about that one! When my issue hit last year apparently it was only me and not anyone else which may explain why it was a low priority for them. I think the official diagnosis was 'squirrel chew'.

I use a prepaid dumb phone too, much more economical and suits my present needs.

The call was automated, so I guess the robot decided it was a hazard.

Could It Be That Your Facebook Post Elevated It From "Who Cares" All The Way Up To "Hazard"
Makes Me Wonder If The FCC Doesn't Monitor AT&T's Facebook, lol~!
