Yup, I was called up and selected. Started immediately. Supposed to last 3 days but after the first day the defendant drove way up to Marquette and hung himself. We waited until 1pm today when the judge called us in to say the case is concluded.

Well that's one creative way to not have to sit through the trial.

Do this, and if you are not a wicked man, and a stranger to God, you will soon have as much of the spirit of prayer as your body can sustain. -Charles Finney 'The Spirit of Prayer' from 'Lectures On Revivals of Religion'

We went home last night after the first day and told my wife I had a bad feeling about the guy that something was going to happen. Then returning early this morning we sat in our private jurors room waiting a good 90min with our bailiff giving us updates and finally he calls us in. We were seated and I saw the empty defendant seat was vacant. The Judge told us to go home for a long lunch break, return at 1. As we walked out I told another juror that this will not have a good outcome. The 1/2hr drive home I prayed in tongues knowing the man was dead. You could not convince me otherwise. The word of the Lord is sure. When I got home I flat out said "he committed suicide" and upon returning to the juror box the Judge gave us the news. Zero surprise. Still shaking the strangeness of it.
